Virginia Tech student John DeVierno saw a need for an online tool to help navigate through the wide array of dining choices provided by Blacksburg restaurants. He wanted to build a website for the students who are cramming for finals who need a late night snack delivered to keep them going; the VT alumni who want a special meal and a drink to toast a Hokie victory; the VT parents who are worn out after a long day of orientation and need help deciding if they want a hot meal delivered to their hotel room or a casual sit down dinner; the growing business community that wants to find the best delivery options for a special office event. In short, he wanted to create a tool that goes beyond giving all members of the Virginia Tech and Blacksburg community the ability to make a dining a choice but to provide a tool that enables them to make the best choice for each occasion.

To this end, he began posting menus and phone numbers online and categorizing nearly every restaurant in Blacksburg, making it the single most comprehensive dining guide available. In the summer of 2010 he launched GoTechMenus.com which allows users to quickly browse through all of their dining options. The site also gives users the capability to place all of their orders online, saving time and eliminating errors often associated with phone orders.

A key feature of GoTechMenus is the ability for users to see on a real time basis and take advantage of the amazing cost saving specials and promotions that the restaurant and bar owners are offering.
